worship service

Central to our worship life is the presence of God through word and sacrament. The word proclaimed and the sacraments - both Holy Baptism and Holy Communion - are called the means of grace. We believe that Jesus Christ is present in these means through the power of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we describe worship as a "gathering around the means of grace."

There is also a basic pattern for worship among Lutherans. We gather. We encounter God's word. We share a meal at the Lord's table. And we are sent into the world. But we do not think about worship so much in terms of what we do. Worship is fundamentally about what God is doing and our response to God's action. Worship is an encounter with God, who saves us through life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We gather for worship every Sunday at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. from September through May. During the summer months of June, July, and August, we hold one worship service on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

BIBLE VERSES

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God — not the result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. Romans 10:10
